Swingooo League · Melbourne
A league that fits your week.
Six weeks. One match a week against someone at your level near you. You pick the court and the time; we handle the pairings, the scores and the ladder. The court beats the couch.
- Season
- 18 Jan to 28 Feb 2027
- Format
- 1 match a week, singles
- Flights
- 6 to 10 players
- Price
- A$49 early bird
Early-bird price until 13 Dec, then A$59. Season 1 runs if 25 players join by 10 Jan. If not, everyone gets a full refund.
How it works
1
Sign up
Pick your area, answer three quick questions about your game, and pay.
2
Season confirmed
Season 1 goes ahead once 25 players have joined. We confirm by email after 10 Jan, or refund everyone in full.
3
Get placed
We group everyone into flights of 6 to 10 players by area and level.
4
Monday pairing
Every Monday we email you your opponent for the week, with their mobile. Text them, pick a court and a time.
5
Play and reply
Play anywhere that suits you both. Reply to that Monday email with the score, and we send the ladder round each week.
6
Finals week
Week 6 pairs you with your neighbour on the ladder. First plays second for the flight.
Areas
North
Brunswick, Coburg, Northcote, Thornbury, Preston, Reservoir
East
Richmond, Hawthorn, Kew, Camberwell, Box Hill, Doncaster
South and bayside
St Kilda, Elwood, Caulfield, Bentleigh, Brighton, Moorabbin
West
Footscray, Yarraville, Williamstown, Sunshine, Altona, Essendon
If an area is short of players, we join it to the one next door so nobody plays the same person every week.
Levels
New
You know the basics and want regular games with people at your stage.
Social
You rally, keep score and play most weeks. Dinks are a work in progress.
Competitive
You dink, drop and reset on purpose, or you already play tournaments.
Three quick questions place you. Got a DUPR rating? Add it and we’ll use that.
League rules
- Singles. Best of 3 games to 11, win by 2. Call your own lines fairly.
- Points: a win is 3, playing and losing is 1, a bye is 2 (an average week), and a no-show is 0 (your opponent gets 3).
- Ladder order: points, then wins, then games won minus lost, then points won minus lost.
- Reply to your Monday email with the score by Sunday night. If you and your opponent disagree, reply and we'll decide.
- Can't arrange a game? Tell your opponent early. If they don't reply by Thursday, reply to us and we'll decide the match.
- Courts aren't included. Book whatever suits you both and split the fee, or use a free public court.
- Your opponent each week sees your first name, last initial, mobile and email. The ladder we send round shows first name and last initial only.
- Refunds: full refund if fewer than 25 players join by 10 Jan, if we can't place you, or if you change your mind before 10 Jan. Once the season starts, refunds follow Australian Consumer Law.
- You play at your own risk. Warm up, follow each venue's rules, and stop if you're hurt.
Questions
- I'm pretty new. Is this for me?
- Yes. The New flight is for people who know the basics and want regular games with people at their stage. That's most of who we built this for.
- What if not enough people sign up?
- Then Season 1 doesn't run and everyone gets a full refund, straight back to their card. We'll tell you either way soon after 10 Jan.
- Singles or doubles?
- Singles this season, because two people are much easier to schedule than four. Doubles may come next season.
- What if I go away for a week?
- Tell your opponent and reply to us. The match goes down as not played: no points either way.
- What does it really cost?
- A$49 (early bird) or A$59 for the season, plus your share of any court you book. Plenty of council courts cost about A$20 to A$30 an hour, split two ways.
- Do I need a DUPR rating?
- No. If you have one, add it and we'll use it to place you. If not, the three questions do the job.
